Pembroke CCGT, South Wales
22 December 2009
Sisk has been awarded this contract as a key element in the delivery of one of the largest and most energy efficient Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) plants in the UK, supplying up to 3 million homes. Work commenced on 31 August.
This first win for the Major Projects unit follows an intense bidding period against both local contractors and some of the largest and most experienced power plant contractors in the country. The Sisk bid team, headed up by Nigel Warnes, Clive Marsh, Enda O’Rourke, Robert Gray and Ken Erskine formulated a comprehensive and competitive tender and also drew upon the expertise from our colleagues in Aghada, Ireland who have successfully delivered a similar but smaller scheme for the same client, Alstom.
Sisk’s 54-week project in Pembrokeshire incorporates the construction of the foundations to the generator turbine units and associated cooling pipework, together with underground services and drainage. Key subcontractors on the Sisk team include UKR (reinforced concrete) and CJ Haughey (groundworks and cooling pipework). We will also have the opportunity to price
further works packages as the scheme progresses. |
