National Institute of Bioprocessing Research & Training (NIBRT)

Sisk have been selected from among 8 bidders to construct and commission the new National Institute of Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT). NIBRT is a world-class institute that provides training and research solutions for the bioprocessing industry in state of the art facilities. NIBRT is located in Dublin, Ireland and is based on an innovative collaboration between University College Dublin, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University and Institute of Technology Sligo.
This award came in the face of stiff competition and demonstrates the value which Sisk Pharma bring and which clients place on knowledge in the delivery of sophisticated biopharmaceutical facilities.
Located in the grounds of UCD’s league of Ireland soccer pitch this leading edge training facility comprises a steel structure on two floors, with stone and curtainwalling elevations. Internally, pilot scale upstream and downstream bioprocessing suites house the key equipment, including four bioreactor skids for mammalian cell culture and a number of filtration and chromatography skids for the recovery and purification of protein products. Support areas include inoculum preparation, buffer preparation, and media preparation areas as well as specialist clean utility plant areas.High quality laboratory space and administration areas complement the technical and cleanroom areas.
Minister Mary Hanafin TD, Minister for Social and Family Affairs, today (25th November 2009) performed the ground breaking ceremony for the commencement of construction of the new National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and
Training (NIBRT). Work commenced in November 2009 and the project is due to for completion in February 2011.
