Sisk presented with 2 OPUS Awards 2006
7th November 2006
We were award winners in both the under €7million and over €7million categories with the Galway Civic Museum and the Marine Institute Headquarters respectively. These awards are presented by Plan Expo and the Construction Industry Federation in association with the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland.
The Civic Museum in Galway was designed by the Architectural Services of the OPW. Built on a derelict site adjacent to the Spanish Arch it has transformed the whole area into a new civic space. It is intended to act as an active cultural centre as well as museum.
The Marine Institute,(pictured left), in Rinville Co. Galway, was also designed by the Architectural Services of OPW. Designed to reflect the changing nature of the ocean the whole concept, detail and construction particularly caught the eye of the judges – ‘ This is a building for people and marine science that rings as sweet as a ships bell’.
Sisk also received a commendation in the over €7million category for Scotch Hall , Drogheda which was designed by Douglas Wallace Architects.
