Sisk are pleased to announce the Monarch Hangar has been crowned as Construction Project of the Year at the Insider West Midlands 2014 Awards ceremony.
 
Overcoming stiff competition from BAM and Costain, the Hangar which can house two jumbo jets at a time, utilises a unique structural hierarchy comprising of a central spine truss carrying roof trusses to the outside wall line. This method which highlights the benefits of offsite manufacturing, not only reduced material usage but also enabled occupation of the hangar 3 weeks earlier than planned and maximised revenue potential for Monarch.
 
Upon award the Insider judges cited “Sisk aced this one by building the massive Monarch Hangar at Birmingham Airport, capable of housing two jumbo jets at a time. Completed ahead of schedule this was a challenging project delivered with style.”
 
Following the award Regions Main Board Director Paraic Keogh said “Receiving such a prestigious award is a testament to all who worked on the Monarch scheme, ranging from the Precon team who worked collaboratively with our design team to offer efficient solutions, to the Construction team whose efforts ensured the fast track delivery was carried out safely and effectively overcoming the challenges of working within the confines of a live airport environment.
