Leamouth Bridge - Crane Lift
John Sisk and Son Ltd is the principal contractor appointed by Ballymore Properties Ltd to carry out the design and construction of the Leamouth North Bridge spanning the River Lea between Canning Town Station and Ballymore’s new London Island Development in the Docklands. The bridge will connect the development site, currently in the construction phase by Ballymore, to Canning Town and provide access for pedestrians and cyclists to pass between them.
The bridge weighs 160 tonnes and was successfully lifted into place over the River Lea by a 1200 tonne crane, one of the largest in the UK, which has been assembled on site. The asymmetrical bridge has made the positioning of the lifting points on bridge for the crane critical to ensure that the bridge is correctly trimmed during lifting.
Congatulations to the site team, our steelwork contractors Thomson Steel and the lifting contractor Sarens.
