To house the manufacture and assembly of the composite wings for Bombardier Aerospace’s new CSeries commercial aircraft, it was necessary to construct a purpose-built facility. The new 600,000 sq ft wing manufacturing and assembly facility, which is being constructed in several phases, is located on Bombardier’s Airport Road West site and will integrate an existing building.
John Sisk & Son are uniquely positioned to provide the resources, and experience to deliver this facility to an extremely aggressive schedule. Demolition of some existing buildings was necessary to clear and level the site to achieve the appropriate building footprint. Familiarity with large-scale construction and intimate knowledge of the supply chain ensure that both materials and labour are co-ordinated closely on site to meet Bombardier’s deadlines.
The 300,000 sq ft first phase has been completed and includes a Low Contamination Area, required for the facility’s manufacturing process.. Bombardier is currently installing equipment in the second phase to support assembly of the composite wings for the CSeries aircraft .
John Sisk & Son also carried out the enabling works contract on this project.
